With the holidays coming, we all need a plan to maintain our four components of health:( physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) to look and feel our very best. Self-care is crucial everyday, and holidays are no exception. Take care of you first, so you'll be able to take care of others and live your best and happy life. Your health is a top priority!
Eat Well:
Maintain eating small meals/snacks throughout the day every 2-3 hours for blood sugar levels to stay up providing energy for your mind and body.
Drink plenty of water!!!
Limit alcohol: no creams or fruity mixes in drinks. Best choice is a single liquor like vodka mixed with club soda or flavored seltzer and a lime/lemon or a glass of red wine(containing reservatol and antioxidants.
Eat a healthy snack before going to a party so you won't overindulge since your body is starving.
Avoid fats, fried foods, heavy creams and sugary foods. Choose nutrient dense foods containing proteins, complex carbs and good fats. Munch on appetizers like veggies, cheese, whole grains, nuts.
Avoid the bread and any other white flour products(pasta, rice, crackers).
Plan meals ahead when you're short on time. Crock pot and air fryer recipes are big time savers.
Plan, Prepare and Prosper:
Schedule your workouts to decrease stress, keep focused, increase endorphins and regulate your well-being
Get enough sleep so your hormones are regulated, your appetite is controlled, your concentration is improved and you can deal with stress better.
Plan a get together or a phone call with friends and family. Keep your relationships connected. Get involved with other people so you don't feel isolated.
Take time for pampering with quiet time, bubble bath, reading, crafting, nail salon, hair salon, massage, etc. Do something you love for yourself! It's not selfish, it's necessary.
