I've been down many paths in my life that have ultimately led me to living a happy and healthy lifestyle, but it wasn't always that way! Some paths were extremely bumpy, some smooth, and others went in all kinds of crazy directions. Growing up, I wasn't into fitness, except rollerskating...Oh the memories! I loved putting on my first metal skates that attached to my shoes & strolling down the street with my walkman booming. I ate like most kids and teens do, not paying much attention to the quality of my nutrients. Then, I noticed I wasn't feeling quite right. In my early teens, I began feeling dizzy, shaky with sweaty palms, anxious, tired, unfocused and would have fainting spells often. After seeing doctors and getting tests in hospitals, no diagnosis was found. Fast forward to my 20s and it was still happening. I finally found a doctor who diagnosed me with Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and was simply told to eat more protein. Years later, after becoming a wife, an elementary school teacher, and a mom of three, my symptoms got worse, rather than better. Anxiety skyrocketed, I wasn't sleeping and I had very low energy. I found a nutritionist who changed it all! I was given detailed instructions weekly on what and when to eat, how to combine foods and amounts I should eat, along with a fitness plan to add lean muscle, so my body would maintain proper blood sugar levels. I was determined to do everything necessary to feel better. I noticed positive results emotionally, mentally and physically in my health and was now on fire!!! I couldn't believe that all my hard work was paying off. I stayed disciplined to my plan knowing the benefits are so worth it. If I didn't have Hypoglycemia, I honestly don't know if I would be as passionate for fitness, nutrition and health as I am today! I call it my "good curse". It took me on a path I was forced to explore that led to even greater things! Now I'm so happy I can share my passion of healthy living with you! What are some of your challenges along your pathways? What path would you like to get off that isn't healthy for you?
