Plan, Prepare & Prosper

Are you a planner? Do you have a routine you follow to prepare for a successful day? Waking up this morning, I thought... it's a new month, a new week, and a new day, which is ideal to create NEW HABITS! Experts say it takes 21-30 days to create a new habit that eventually becomes a routine. At the beginning of last month, I asked you to set a SMART(Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely) goal or two? How did you do with that task? Is it a habit now? Goals set from some of the members included: going to bed earlier, drinking more water, planning more meals, exercising more. These are all SMART goals and once we achieve the small goal, we move forward with another. If it's planned, you're more likely to complete it. Some of the routines I've done for years help me to get in the right mindset to start my day off on a positive step. I select my clothes for my morning workout the night before . Going to bed and waking up at the same time each morning helps regulate my sleep. Allowing plenty of time before my workout in the morning to eat a healthy breakfast and meditate/pray before getting ready, calms my mind and nourishes my body and soul. Planning what time and what type of exercise I'll do each day sets me up for positive fitness results. Including down time/rest time during the day recharges me. Timing out my meals and snacks, including healthy combinations with protein, good carbs and fats to keep my blood sugars stable, allows a steady energy for the day. Always having water to hydrate keeps my brain and body alert. These habits took a while to create, but now they are routine, and I don't have to think about them. I just do it! Take time now to think: What habits do you want to create? What habits do you want to break? I'll go first...I want to create a habit of planning new healthy recipes to cook and preparing different meals throughout the week. The habit I want to break is setting healthier boundaries in going offline: shutting my "work mode" to 'relax" mode. I'm getting better at this habit, but still need to work on it! How about you? Do you have tips to share on a routine you've created or habits that work? Are you struggling with a habit you need to break?
